Hello there I am also a step parent. My step son is 19 now and will be 20 in July. The relationship has fallen apart enough that I seen him once this past year. He came over every other weekend , 2 weeks in summer if we were lucky and Christmas since he was 2 years old, he would open presents with my son. But somewhere around Middle school when he wanted to live with us, he joined the band and what not and we started getting to see him on his birthday and Christmas, that was it he was too busy for us or his step brother and half sister which are my children. It was heart wrenching for my husband and disappointing to all of us.
